Governor Perdue signed HB 229 (Student Health and Physical Education Act) April 28, 2009. Part of this act requires all students enrolled in a physical education course in grades one to 12 to have an annual fitness assessment beginning during the 2011-2012 school year. The fitness assessment and data collection procedures will be the responsibility of the Department of Education.
