The Phillips Award is named after Mrs. Condyce Phillips. Mrs. Phillips was the cafeteria manager at Griffin Middle School in Cobb County when State School Superintendent Dr. John Barge was a student. The inspiration for this award came from the kindness Mrs. Phillips showed toward Dr. Barge. As most staff members do, she helped Superintendent Barge write a better story for himself.
