| Description of Duties: | Under general supervision of the Smokey Powell Assistive Technology Center program manager, the outreach consultant will provide statewide services to meet the assistive technology needs of students who are visually impaired or blind. These services include the evaluation, selection, set-up, training and integration of access technology to faculty, staff, family, and other team members as well as to the student. Collecting and maintaining data is required, as is providing written reports of assistive technology evaluations. The candidate will be involved in creating and a wide variety of online professional learning opportunities. |
| Minimum Qualifications: | Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Georgia Teacher Certificate in Visually Impaired (VI) within two years of employment and have at least three years experience with assistive technology for students who are blind or visually impaired, or possess a Georgia Teacher Certificate in an area of special education and have at least five years experience with assistive technology for students who are blind or visually impaired. Demonstrated ability in providing effective assistive technology services including the evaluation, demonstration, selection and training of assistive technology. Candidate must have good communication skills. |
| Preferred Qualifications: | Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess the following • Master’s degree in Visually Impaired (K-12) • Classroom experience with children who are visually impaired and/or who have multiple disabilities • Statewide experience in teaching assistive technology to teachers of the visually impaired • In-depth knowledge of issues surrounding accessibility, accessible instructional materials, and emerging technologies for the population of visually impaired students. • Experience providing assistive technology services on a district or statewide level.

| Salary/Benefits: | Salary based on years of experience and certification. This is a 220 day position paid on a 12-month basis. Salary will be based on the number of days worked, experience and certification. Benefit options include life, disability, dental, vision, and health insurance, annual/sick leave and Employees Retirement or Teachers Retirement. |
