| Description of Duties: | Under limited supervision, leads and manages statewide school performance activities for Georgia's Priority, Focus, and Alert schools. Duties include, but are not limited to, ensuring that all requirements of the Elementary and Secondary Act (ESEA) of 1965 are met; providing leadership to Georgia's Statewide System of Support; ensuring compliance with the ESEA Flexibility Waiver; supervising the GAPSS analysis team and school-based school improvement specialists; managing budgets and contracts; and overseeing approval of the 1003(a) School Improvement Grants through Title I, Part A. |
| Minimum Qualifications: | Master’s degree in education, education administration or a related field and a minimum of three years of experience in a supervisory/leadership role with responsibility for school performance/improvement activities as the school, district, or state level. Must have working knowledge of current research on school improvement initiatives/programs and knowledge of performance standards and instructional design. Must be self-directed and self-motivated with a strong work ethic. Must hold or be eligible for Georgia Professional Standards Commission certification. Note: Must submit required certification documentation with resume and cover letter or application. |
| Preferred Qualifications: | Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, have experience in the following: • Education Specialist or higher degree • Experience with K-12 school improvement programs • Experience implementing comprehensive school reform programs or initiatives • Strong knowledge of the Federal No Child Left Behind Act • Five or more years experience in a building-level or system-level leadership role • Successful experience with designing, planning, developing, and conducting professional learning programs that are job-embedded and focused on impacting student achievement • Experience with training and supporting professional staff as well as training module development |
| Salary/Benefits: | Pay grade 19 – Annual salary range $52,172.55 (minimum) to $91,137.94 (maximum). Hiring salary is commensurate with current employment, relevant education/training and work experience, and available funding. Benefit options include life, disability, dental and health insurance, annual/sick leave, and Employees’ Retirement or Teachers’ Retirement. |
